Service providers are restricted from using or disclosing your information except as necessary to provide services to us or comply with legal requirements.
Educational Access: Instructors have access to view all student interactions within their courses, including chat histories and queries, for educational purposes. This access is similar to traditional classroom oversight.
Legal & Safety: We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or with your explicit consent.
Business Transfers: If we're involved in a merger or sale, your information may be transferred, subject to the same privacy protections.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below. We'll respond within a reasonable time. Some information may be retained as permitted or required by law.
Children Under 13: We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization. Educational institutions using TeachGPT with students under 13 are responsible for obtaining necessary consents.

Institutions remain responsible for their own FERPA compliance. We're a service provider helping institutions meet their obligations.
Role: When you use TeachGPT directly (not through a school), we act as the “controller” of your personal information. When we provide the service to an institution, we act as its “processor” (and, for U.S. schools, a “school official”) and process information according to the institution’s instructions.
Institutional Responsibility: Schools maintain control over their use of TeachGPT and are responsible for ensuring appropriate use. We process educational data according to institutional instructions.
Parent/Guardian Rights: Parents of students under 13 should work through their educational institution to exercise rights regarding their child's information.
No Student Data Sales: We don't use personally identifiable information to advertise to students or sell student data.
AI Processing: When you use AI features, you acknowledge that:
Best Practices: We recommend avoiding personally identifiable or sensitive information when using AI features.
Data Training: Content processed through AI services may be used by providers for model training. We don't train our own models on your personal data without explicit consent.
Security Measures: We implement security measures appropriate to the risk, including encryption and access controls. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
Data Retention: We retain information as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Chat histories and course data are persistently stored to maintain service continuity. We may retain data indefinitely for legal, security, or operational purposes even after account deletion. We handle deletion requests according to applicable law.
Data Breach: We handle any data security incidents according to applicable law.
