Getting Started

When you create an account, please use accurate information and keep your login secure. We may accept or refuse service to anyone at our discretion. One account per person - no automated account creation. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, so let us know immediately if someone gains unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts at any time, with or without notice, and may block email and IP addresses to prevent re-registration. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

Your Content

Your work remains yours. When you use TeachGPT, you're granting us permission to store, display, and process your content so the service can function properly. Content you upload, including images and documents, is persistently stored in our cloud infrastructure. Chat histories and course interactions are retained to provide continuous service. We may also analyze usage patterns for research, service improvement, educational advancement, and any related purposes necessary for operating and improving an educational platform. Content in shared course spaces may be visible to other course participants. Everything you share must be your own work or something you have permission to use. We don't pre-screen content and aren't responsible for its accuracy. We can remove content or delete accounts at any time, with or without notice, in our sole discretion. By using TeachGPT, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, perform, and create derivative works of your content solely to operate, protect, troubleshoot, and improve TeachGPT, including allowing our service providers to do this on our behalf. We don’t use your content for advertising.

How TeachGPT Works

TeachGPT combines our platform with various technologies including AI assistants (such as OpenAI), storage services (including Firebase and GCS), document processing (such as Mathpix), and other tools. TeachGPT operates across multiple domains and uses content delivery networks that may collect IP addresses for performance. Here's what you need to know:

We provide everything "as is" and "as available" - technology isn't perfect. Keep your own copies of important work. Features may change or be discontinued at any time.

From time to time, we may offer beta or experimental features so you can try new ideas. These may change or be removed, can be less reliable, and come with additional limitations of liability to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Using TeachGPT Responsibly

By using our service, you agree to:

We don't verify academic integrity, originality, or make educational evaluations. Those responsibilities remain with your institution.

Helping Us Improve

We love feedback! When you share suggestions, report bugs, or provide ideas, you're helping make TeachGPT better for everyone. Any feedback you provide becomes our property and we can use it without compensation or attribution.

While we hope everything goes smoothly, we need to be clear about responsibilities:

Our Platform: TeachGPT and its entire contents, features, functionality, and technology are owned by the Operator and protected by intellectual property laws. We handle copyright matters according to applicable law. We may terminate repeat infringers. AI-generated outputs may not be eligible for copyright protection. Users are responsible for determining ownership and appropriate use of AI-generated content.

Service Terms: The service is provided "as is" and "as available," to the fullest extent permitted by law, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non‑infringement, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, or non‑misappropriation. No refunds are provided for any reason. We may monitor usage and collect analytics but aren't required to. We can transfer our rights under this agreement; you cannot without our written consent.

Liability Limits: To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the lesser of what you've paid us in the prior 12 months or $100. We aren't responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages of any kind, or for loss of data, loss of profits, business interruption, or academic impacts, even if advised of the possibility. These limits apply to any theory of liability and to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Your Protection of Us: You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or costs (including attorney's fees) arising from your use of TeachGPT, your content, or violations of these terms. If you sue us and lose, you pay our legal costs.

Dispute Resolution: Any disputes will be resolved through binding individual arbitration in Massachusetts (Boston) under AAA Commercial Arbitration Rules, excluding Massachusetts conflict‑of‑laws rules. No class actions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small‑claims court. We may seek injunctive relief in court to protect our intellectual property or prevent abuse of the service. Arbitration proceedings and awards are confidential. Claims must be brought within one year. The arbitrator's decision is final. These terms are governed by Massachusetts law, excluding its conflict‑of‑laws rules.

Additional Protections: We're not liable for circumstances beyond our control. You're responsible for export law compliance. If any term is invalid, the rest remain effective. This is our entire agreement. Key terms about liability, indemnification, and intellectual property survive termination. No third parties have rights under this agreement. Our failure to enforce any provision doesn't waive our rights.

Force Majeure: We're not liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, accidents, pandemics, strikes, cyber attacks, infrastructure failures, or shortages of transportation, facilities, fuel, energy, labor, or materials.

Other Important Details

Educational Context: While we follow industry practices for educational technology, your institution remains responsible for its own FERPA, COPPA, and other compliance obligations. We're a supplementary tool, not an educational institution. We don't make educational decisions, grant credits, or evaluate student performance. We don't advertise to students under 18. Instructors have access to view student interactions within their courses for educational purposes.

Privacy & Data: We handle data as needed to provide the service, which may include sharing with third-party providers. Instructors may access course-related content as appropriate. We use security measures appropriate to the risk but can't guarantee absolute protection. Educational records remain subject to your institution's policies.

Changes & Availability: We may update the service or these terms at any time. Continued use means acceptance of updates. Either party can end this agreement anytime. We may suspend or terminate service for any reason, with or without notice, in our sole discretion.

Compliance: You represent that you are not on any U.S. sanctions list and that you will comply with applicable export and sanctions laws when using TeachGPT.

Standard Provisions: This agreement incorporates typical protections found in educational technology services, including but not limited to standard limitations on warranties, liability, and indemnification. We may use session recording and analytics to improve the service. Usage data helps us understand and enhance the platform.

No Special Relationship: Using TeachGPT doesn't create any fiduciary, professional, agency, employment, or special relationship between us.

Ownership: This agreement is between you and Greg Kestin, the Operator of TeachGPT.
